From the beginning...

From 1973.

In 1973, Arthur Scudder started the company under the name of Kent Boiler Maintenance Ltd he was soon joined by David Bevan.

Quickly, Kent Boiler Maintenance was established as the ‘go-to’ firm within the council's building sector, working for the Gillingham council covering schools, libraries and other council-owned premises.

Arthur's son, Justin, joined the company in 1995, and for the next 30 years, they built the company up, gaining a large customer base working in a range of areas. From Landlord Gas Safety Checks, private customer boiler servicing, to repairs and installations. Kent Boiler Maintenance has specialised as commercial catering specialists within the last 15 years with the help of our many sub-contractors, enabling the business to cover dishwashers, fridge freezes, combi ovens, ventilation and electric testing.

In 2017, David retired and can now be spotted in the Wigmore area playing golf.

Sadly, in 2022, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s and Dementia, Arthur was laid to rest.

With the increase in the type of work moving towards the commercial catering section, especially within schools (including food tech, kitchens and science labs), Justin decided it was time to re-launch the company.

Then, KBM Services (Kent) Ltd was born. In April 2025, the two companies merged as one, covering all bases from boilers, both domestic and commercial, to fryers, cookers, dishwashers, fridges, freezers and all the rest.
